Rapper Rick Ross has emerged victorious in his mix tape lawsuit with 50 Cent after a judge dismissed it.
In November, 2015, the Hustlin' hitmaker released a free, two-disc mix tape, titled Renzel Remixes, in which he raps over 50 Cent's signature hit In Da Club, prompting his rap rival to file documents accusing Ross of unlawfully using his name and identity to promote his own album, Black Market, a month later.
50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, was seeking at least $2 million in damages, as well as an injunction barring Ross from using any trademarks or product created or produced by 50 Cent.
However, according to TMZ, the case has been thrown out because Jackson is not the rightful owner of the copyright or master recordings for the song. Bosses at Shady/Aftermath Records own them.
The two rappers have been embroiled in a feud for years, and 50 Cent lost a 2015 legal battle with Ross' ex-girlfriend, Lastonia Leviston, who accused 50 Cent of leaking a sex tape featuring her online in order to rile his rival.
50 Cent lost the case and was ordered to pay her $5 million in damages, and another $2 million in punitive damages. Days after the ruling, Curtis filed for bankruptcy and has since reportedly settled with Leviston.
