How To Write A Good Letter Of Undertaken

      letter of undertaking (LOU) is a letter written to portray an intention, a promise, a pledge or an assurance to forbear something or perform an obligation.Letters of understanding are usually used in day-to-day transactions where one party is trying to prevent incurring loss which usually stems from a prior agreement. For example, where a student in a secondary school commits an offence and the school management requires the student to sign a document, showing that he/she will not do such wrongful act again with alternative consequences in case of default.

HOW TO WRITE A LETTER OF UNDERTAKING

AdvertisementsYou must note that the LOU is as any kind of formal letter, so must contain, date, the addresses of the parties, salutation and heading, it can be headed simply as LETTER OF UNDERTAKING OR you can include what the party is promising to do, such as; LETTER OF UNDERTAKING TO REGISTER THE SUBJECT OF MORTGAGE.It must also contain an introduction which should show clearly if the letter is written by a solicitor or by the person in need. State briefly the purpose of writing also. For example: I am John Duke, I applied for a loan in your bank , I write in respect of the above subject. You then proceed into the body of the letter,  where you  state your intention briefly.For example:In view of my conduct, having done……….. I hereby undertake never to do anything that will be offensive to this organisation. I will ensure to act in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations of this organisation.ORIn view of our agreement, I hereby undertake to register all documents of title relating to the subject of this mortgage on or before the(Date). I  will ensure that your bank is duly furnished with the documents of registration. (your agreement should guide you)Add a complementary close; Yours faithfully. sign before you put your name.Lastly, cross check and make sure your letter aligns with your intentions and give a friend or colleague to also cross-check for you .
